WALK IN THE RAIN
Walk in the Rain
OPEN CALL for artists, climate activists and climate researchers.
Deadline: 20.06.2023, 23:59pm
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our exciting project, Walk in the Rain and we invite you to be part of this unique endeavor. Walk in the Rain is an interactive street art project that aims to create visibility for climate research, statistics, and slogans from climate activists, while fostering dialogue and empowering individuals to take action against climate crisis.
Through the innovative use of hydrochromic ink and stencils, Walk in the Rain will transform the public spaces of Postdam into a canvas that comes to life on rainy days. We are seeking passionate individuals and/or collectives who are eager to make a powerful statement about the urgent issue of climate change through their research, activism and artistic expressions.
Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to this captivating street art project by creating graffiti that showcases climate-related slogans and research findings. Your art will only be revealed during rainfall, creating an ephemeral and thought-provoking experience for all who encounter it. Participant artists, activists and researchers will be promoted through our website and social media channels.
From June 29th, we will be organizing group tours that will traverse a specific route through the city, as a part of the opening of TRANSFORMALE festival starting from the Rechenzentrum Potsdam. The data center is a lively place of artistic, (socio)cultural and creative production and encounters in the center of Potsdam.
These tours will allow participants to engage with the environmental characteristics of the city, observe your contribution, and engage in meaningful discussions about climate activism. It's a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and explore the urgent need for collective action.
Open call requires, but is not limited to:
- your 2D visual work, vector graphic, typography design, etc… that can be applied to the public area with a transparent spray. (For Artists.)
- your brief slogan, message or story related to the climate crisis. (For Activists.)
- brief information about your research and your suggestions on how your research / statistical information / data can be presented in the public domain. (For Researchers)
